En la segunda -“El realismo cristiano”- se analiza el que entiende como mayor peligro actual contra los creyentes: el gnosticismo. La negación de la subjetividad y el descentramiento del yo han desembocado en el nihilismo de los años noventa. En la vida cotidiana, en cambio, esos límites no se ven, de modo que si los cruzamos no nos damos cuenta de que estamos viviendo una revolución. Una de las ideas centrales de este libro, es que la que estamos viviendo -"la revolución que nadie soñó"- es una revolución donde cada una de las revoluciones analizadas se encuentra dentro y fuera de la otra, como partes del mismo todo que Fernando Mires analiza desde diferentes campos: el de la microelectrónica, el feminista, el ecológico y el de la política, que no son por tanto procesos diferentes sino la cristalización de una sola revolución, aquella "que nadie soñó", dentro de este período que vivimos, caracterizado por el sin sentido de las cosas y en cuyo interior deambulamos sin objetivos colectivos, ausentes de toda historicidad.
