[Palabras claves]NEUROCIENCIAResumen: The Oxford Handbook of Philosophy of Mind presents a guide on the philosophy of mind. The study of the mind has always been one of the main preoccupations of philosophers, and has been a booming area of research in recent decades, with remarkable advances in psychology and neuroscience. A leading international team of contributors offer forty-five critical surveys of a wide range of topics relating to the mind. The first two sections cover the place of the mind in the natural world: its ontological status, how it fits into the causal fabric of the universe, and the nature of consciousness. The third section focuses on the much-debated subjects of content and intentionality. The fourth section examines a variety of mental capacities, including memory, imagination, and emotion. The fifth section looks at epistemic issues, in particular regarding knowledge of one's own and other minds. The volume concludes with a section on self, personhood, and agency. [Palabras claves]PSICOLOGÍA COGNITIVAResumen: A new theory is taking hold in neuroscience. The theory is increasingly being used to interpret and drive experimental and theoretical studies, and it is finding its way into many other domains of research on the mind. It is the theory that the brain is a sophisticated hypothesis-testing mechanism, which is constantly involved in minimizing the error of its predictions about the sensory input it receives from the world. This mechanism is meant to explain perception and action and everything mental in between. It is an attractive theory because powerful theoretical arguments support it. It is also attractive because more and more empirical evidence is beginning to point in its favour. It has enormous unifying power and yet it can explain in detail too. This book explores this theory. It explains how the theory works and how it applies; it sets out why the theory is attractive; and it shows why and how the central ideas behind the theory profoundly change how we should conceive of perception, action, attention, and other central aspects of the mind. The central argument of the book is that the simple idea of prediction error minimization offers a surprisingly good, explanatory fit with our actual perceptual phenomenology, and that it throws new light on core, intriguing aspects of the nature of mind. Nota de contenido: Part I The Mechanism
1 Perception as causal inference
2 Prediction error minimization
3 Prediction error, context, and precision
4 Action and expected experience
Part II The World
5 Binding is inference
6 Is predicting seeing?
7 Precarious prediction
8 Surprise and misrepresentation
Part III The Mind
9 Precision, attention, and consciousness
10 Perceptual unity in action
11 The fragile mirror of nature
12 Into the predictive mind
Concluding remarks: The mind in prediction
